The Paranormal Cometh

Four Fridays between here and The Paranormal, time to uncork the spooky music a little bit before the season gets away from us.  I've been lucky enough to hear Counting Crows play "Ghost Train" live twice, once just last year amid a macabre drizzle and fog here on our own downtown mall.  This one never ceases to haunt me in the most terrific way.

You'll likely notice, if you haven't done so already, that The Paranormal is a benefit again this year.  Though last year we cut a check to our friends over in the Valley for the development of ripping, purpose built singletrack, this year we've got a more important cause in mind.

I've been heretofore unable to find the right words to convey how I feel about Scud, and mountain biking, and danger, and living life with the throttle open, but it's my hope that some of what I'm trying to say is universally understood.  And I do love that picture.  I took that one of Scud on our harvest moon night ride, September 2011 way up on Flattop mountain.  That smile, man.

The Paranormal, appropriately enough, should have a barely waning full moon.

Better get back to the haunting music before I get choked up.  But you know that I know that you know what I mean, and I appreciate that.

The Boss, walking undead in his own right, knows a thing or two about a comeback.

You will shine again soon, brother Scud.

Up, up, up.

  1. Thanks for your expression. I echo your Scud sentiments as I personally try to get my arms around it all.
